About Ms. Wafwa
I'm pretty passionate about education and can't think of anything I rather do than teach. My goal as a teacher is to have a classroom that invites children to be themselves, explore new interests, and take on appropriate challenges in a safe, supportive atmosphere. I also work very hard to make learning relevant and fun so that my students become lifelong learners.
I graduated from Boise State University with a B.A. in Elementary Education and with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education. Since graduating from college, I have continued to take numerous classes to enrich my knowledge to share with students. I'll finally work on getting my my master’s degree just as soon as I can decide on a course of study because there are just too many classes I still want to take..
Before coming to Vision Charter School, I taught Kindergarten, Early Childhood Special Education, 5th grade, and high school Earth Science in various school districts in Idaho and Nevada. I feel however as I have finally found my dream school at Vision. I love the focus on Science and Arts!
I'm married to my best friend and husband, Jody. He works for Idaho Power and much to my dismay is a New York Giants and Seattle Mariners fan! (UGH! The horror for this Boston Red Soxs and New England Patriots fan!) At least the NBA and the Celtics are safe because he's not much of a basketball fan.
I have two girls – Caitlin, who is a Vallivue High School graduate and lives in Oklahoma, and Jaiden, a 3rd grader at Vision. They keep me very entertained and busy. My students love to hear stories about the girls but I'm sure the girls would prefer I not tell on them.
When I'm not at school, you will find me spending time with my family and friends, reading, scrapbooking, working on the computer ( I LOVE gadgets), dabbling in photography, and traveling (when I can afford it!).
I'm not obsessed with Tigger, no matter what the kids say! Almost every Tigger in our classroom has been given to me by students. Though at last count -- well over 200 -- I could see how that could be said. He is my favorite cartoon character and we share a birth year. However, my "obsession" is only at school and each one is as special to me as the student who gave it to me.
